A great night was had by all at our 1st Contracts Casino night on Saturday.
It was a pleasure to be able to reward our team and supply partners for their hard work over the last 18 months getting through the pandemic together and good to see so many familiar faces having fun.
We had a couple of casino tables on the go with the highest number of chips winning prizes, a photo booth and a magician doing the rounds, as well as the customary DJ for a good old dance to end the night.
It was a nice touch from the team to thank Leon and Richard with some gifts and bunches of flowers for Becky and Mel.
1st prize of £250.00 travel voucher was won by Melanie Yeomans who very kindly donated her prize to be auctioned off for charity raising £200 for Springhill Hospice, with Dave from DAC landscapes having the highest bid.
The 2nd prize of £150.00 travel voucher was won by Hannah from DAC landscapes.
3rd prize of a bottle of champagne was won by Andy Atherton from Atherton drainage.
A special mention to Stacey Buckley for the hard work she put in to make sure everything ran smoothly and thanks to the Wine Press at Littleborough who hosted the event brilliantly.
We can’t wait for our next event!
We will let the pictures do the rest of the talking.
Richard and Leon completed their 147-mile adventure from Blackpool to Scarborough in the day on Saturday 3rd of July. With all types of weather thrown in the mix, it was a long day taking 11hrs 40 mins in total with 9hrs 50 mins of continuous pedaling.
They had support from Jason in the van providing food, water, and dry clothing in between the heavy downpours as well as few shouts of encouragement from the roadside.
Between the group that completed the ride, they have raised almost seven thousand pounds at the time of posting this. Raising funds and awareness to support the amazing Amelia Mae Foundation.
Well done to Hayley our compliance manager for completing this mental health 1st aid course. This is a very important subject to our business and we are planning on booking more members of the team on to similar courses.
A well-deserved set of keys for our Operations Manager Stacey!!
Stacey joined our business as a Contract Support
Administrator a little under 3 years ago, she has always shown great drive and
passion in order to move up within the business.
She is a highly valued member of the team, her commitment
through the first lockdown where many were furloughed was nothing short of
fantastic where she dealt with all clients and co-ordinated our Field Engineers
to ensure all jobs were attended.
We are very proud to reward Stacey with a new car and we
hope she enjoys it!
Christmas has come early for our Office Manager Hayley!
Hayley has been with us since Day one and has been nothing short of amazing throughout and especially during this year where her commitment has been fantastic.
We are proud and delighted to reward Hayley for her hard work, efforts, and loyalty over the last 7 years with the keys to her new car, and hopefully, she enjoys it as much as we have enjoyed getting it to her.
Ian joined the company in October 2020 bringing a wealth of experience and skills to the maintenance and small works estimating department. Ian has worked in the position of reactive maintenance QS since 1998 with Garside and Laycock, which then migrated into SPIE in 2012 and then TRIOS in 2020. Ian’s experience working with a company that grew to be part of a large corporate business will stand him in good stead to collaborate with the team to propose new ways and ideas.
At 1st Contracts we are focused on our people and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Brook and her fiancé Danny on their pregnancy. The first ever 1st contracts baby being due on Christmas eve!
Brook is a highly valued and devoted member of the team who always gives 100%, she is always bright, bubbly and always manages to make us laugh even in the most stressful of situations, usually with a terrible impression of one of the engineers followed by a fit of the giggles!
Brook is part of the operations team dealing with a high volume of jobs and managing the engineers. She is in frequent contact with the management team to ensure thoroughness. She takes this all in her stride probably as at home she has her own farm and helps run her grans farm.
As she is dealing with cows, sheep, goats and horses while hay bailing on a regular basis, it makes a P1 roof leak in Timbuktu on a Friday afternoon a walk in the park.
We would like to wish Brook all the very best for the rest of her pregnancy and we are all looking forward to meeting the next member of the 1st Contracts family.
After many months of “unusual”, it is great to see our office team smiling and back together.
Our people are the heartbeat of our business and we are very proud of each one of them for keeping level-headed through these difficult times. The dedication, commitment, and drive these people have shown to ensure we continue to move forward has been nothing short of outstanding.
Our field management is now planning to visit all engineers on-site to see how they are and to have a good old-fashioned catch-up. We are sure there will be a few socially distanced breakfasts, brews, and butties consumed over the coming weeks.
We shall continue to invest in our people ensuring they have the skills and the tools to be the best they can, but sometimes there are things that can’t be taught and these guys have it in abundance.
