Our Team

Yeomans Projects Limited was established in 2006 by co-owner and current Director Richard Yeomans. The business was primarily a smaller local company that delivered a host of domestic and commercial building and electrical work. Richards hard work, integrity and relationships he built back then are still steadfast within the companies ethos today.

In November 2013 and with the introduction of co-owner and Director Leon Ashworth the business was re-branded as 1st Contracts. Leon has vast experience and knowledge in the reactive and planned maintenance environment, mainly working in the retail and commercial sector. Leon and Richards long standing friendship has now become part of a business vision and with the shared ambitions the two have driven the company forward ever since.

Email Richard
Richard begun running his own business after a successful career in the armed forces as part of the Royal Engineers where he became an electrical engineer. Yeomans Projects was developed from years of hard work by Richard and his team. Almost 20 years later 1st Contracts is thriving off the back of the foundations laid by Richard. As well as the overall running of the business Richard is also mainly accountable for the projects and high value work we deliver.

Email Leon
From leaving school Leon has always been involved in reactive maintenance firstly as an engineer working on a number of high-profile clients then progressing to supervisor and regional manager by the time he hit his early 20’s. Throughout his career Leon has gained experience by working for large facilities management companies through to the local construction firms. Joining up with Richard in late 2012 taking the step into self-employment. Leon drives the process and service side of the company with his strengths lying in the reactive and low value high volume work. In 2020 Leon became a member of the leaders council of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, providing him with further experience and skills to support the company.

Email Steve
Steve joined our team in October 2017 as Regional Operations Manager to service our southern supply chain and clients. He spent 10 years in a client side role working for Tesco as a Group Maintenance Manager. By developing his skills he made the transition to lead in a client facing role. Moving from Head of Contracts to Contracts Director he is involved in the development of our people and supports the business through the implementation of change where he constantly reviews how things can be done smarter and more effective. He is also continually driving for high standards throughout our business where there are key focal points and objectives.

Email Hayley
Hayley has been with the company since the outset and was the first person to join in an administration roll. As the company has grown and developed Hayley has been instrumental in the structure of our help desk and contracts support. Hayley has developed her skills with the business and is now Head of Operations working closely with a growing support team and providing essential assistance to the directors. Hayley’s knowledge of the business is second to none.

Email Stacey
Stacey joined us in Feb 2018 and following a successful spell as contract support moved to Operations Manager in the following July. Her previous experience working as a QS for 3 years and managing men on various sites in and around the north west has stood her in good stead for the operational challenges she faces daily. With accountability for almost 30 engineers nationally and a helpdesk of 6 Stacey is key to the work we self deliver nationally.

Email Jason
Jason was the first man in through the door when we started the business and has been instrumental to its success to date. With almost 30 years’ experience in the building trade including running his own company in the past Jason’s strengths lie with supporting the clients and running the estimating part of the business. Jason is accountable for several our key accounts and his character and attitude always shines through.

Email Pete
Bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience Pete has a 3-year apprenticeship in Wheelwrighting & Carpentry. Following this he moved onto Machine Engineering where he completed his Electrical and Mechanical Engineering qualifications through an O/U course. Entered the building trade over 20yrs ago where he qualified as an Electrician in which he now holds the title of NICEIC QS. Pete has been with us since 2014 and is currently carrying out the role of Projects Manager supporting Richard. Pete has great attention to detail and a positive approach to his tasks.

Email Mandeep
With over 25 years' experience within the Construction and Trade Industry, Mandeep has an extensive amount of experience from being a qualified Carpenter, to a self-employed Multi Trader and recently as a qualified Surveyor/Estimator. Mandeep is regarded as a valuable member of the 1st Contracts team and since joining in September 2019. Mandeep has successfully managed a variety of projects and constantly delivered a high standard of service to all our clients.

Joined the company in October 2020 bringing a wealth of experience and skills to the maintenance and small works estimating department. Ian has worked in the position of reactive maintenance QS since 1998 with Garside and Laycock, which then migrated into SPIE in 2012 and then TRIOS in 2020. Ian’s experience working with a company that grew to be part of a large corporate business will stand him in good stead to collaborate with the team to propose new ways and ideas.
